Plume / Penguin to Publish Anais' Book on 6th October

'Working on a Song', Anais' book about the writing - and rewriting - of the lyrics of Hadestown will be published by Plume on October 6th 2020. Anais describes the work of writing the lyrics as "a mysterious dozen year process I still don't understand". The book takes readers inside Anais' journey, sharing anecdotes and stories, and breaking down the lyrics; and we're honored that Steve Earle has written the foreword.

Hadestown Stage Licensing Rights Acquired by Concord Theatricals

We're excited to announce that Concord Theatricals will be handling worldwide stage licensing rights for Hadestown. The show began as a small-town DIY community theater project, and we're thrilled for it to return to people-powered theatres all over the world in future. A licensing timeline will be announced at a later date.

Hadestown won the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album at last night's ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. We are thrilled and honoured. Anaïs finished up her speech by quoting some long-lost lyrics that never made it into the show: “Orpheus was a poor boy but he had a gift to give us / there was one song he was working on he could never seem to finish / a song about this broken world, that he rewrote again and again / as though if he could find the words, he could fix the world with them.”
